- World Day of War Orphans is observed every year on 6 January.
- The day aims to raise awareness about children who lose their parents due to wars and armed conflicts.
- It was initiated by the French organisation SOS Enfants en Détresse.
- According to UNICEF, nearly 150 million children worldwide are orphans.
- India has the largest orphan population with about 30 million children.
