The total number of vacancies announced for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) is 9,970. These vacancies are distributed across various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) in India. Age Limit (as of 01 July 2025):

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 30 Years

Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates.

Educational Qualification:

• Option 1: Passed 10th class (SSLC) + ITI certificate in relevant trade from a recognized institution.
• Option 2: Passed 10th class + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade.
• Option 3: Diploma/Degree in Engineering (in relevant stream) from a recognized university/institute.

Note: Specific trades and engineering streams are listed in the official notification.

The selection of candidates for the Assistant Loco Pilot post involves multiple stages:

1. First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1): This is the first qualifying exam, scheduled for 16-18 February 2026.
2. Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2): Only candidates who qualify CBT 1 will be eligible for CBT 2.
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Applicable only for candidates who have opted for ALP post. Qualifying in nature.
4. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates based on CBT 2 & CBAT scores.
5. Medical Examination: Final appointment is subject to passing the prescribed medical standards of Indian Railways.

The CBT 1 is common for both ALP and Technician posts. The pattern is as follows:

Marking Scheme: +1 mark for each correct answer. 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

The syllabus for the first stage CBT is designed to test the foundational knowledge of candidates:

• Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM & HCF, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Mensuration, Time & Work, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, etc.
• General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding & Decoding, Mathematical operations, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams, Data Interpretation, etc.
• General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus).
• General Awareness & Current Affairs: Knowledge of Current Events, Indian Geography, Culture, History, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Environmental Issues, General Scientific & Technological developments, etc.

Admit Card: The RRB ALP Admit Card 2026 for CBT 1 will be released separately by each RRB regional website approximately 7-10 days before the exam date. Candidates must download it using their Registration Number and Date of Birth. The admit card will contain exam date, shift, venue, and important instructions.

Result: The result for CBT 1 will be declared on the official RRB websites a few weeks after the exam. Qualified candidates will be called for CBT 2.

The online application process for CEN-01/2025 is now closed. The following steps are for informational purposes only.

3. Complete the one-time registration to get your Registration ID.
4. Fill in the detailed application form with personal, educational, and community details.

6. Pay the prescribed application fee online.
7. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
