The selection of candidates for the Assistant Loco Pilot post involves multiple stages:
- First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1): This is the first qualifying exam, scheduled for 16-18 February 2026.
- Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2): Only candidates who qualify CBT 1 will be eligible for CBT 2.

- General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding & Decoding, Mathematical operations, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams, Data Interpretation, etc.
- General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus).
- General Awareness & Current Affairs: Knowledge of Current Events, Indian Geography, Culture, History, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Environmental Issues, General Scientific & Technological developments, etc.
Admit Card: The RRB ALP Admit Card 2026 for CBT 1 will be released separately by each RRB regional website approximately 7-10 days before the exam date. Candidates must download it using their Registration Number and Date of Birth. The admit card will contain exam date, shift, venue, and important instructions.
Result: The result for CBT 1 will be declared on the official RRB websites a few weeks after the exam. Qualified candidates will be called for CBT 2.
