Age Relaxation: Applicable as per Government of India rules: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10 years for UR, 13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST), Ex-Servicemen, and others as per prescribed norms. Candidates must refer to the original notification for exact relaxation details.
Passed 10+2 (Intermediate) examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates appearing in the final year were also eligible to apply provisionally.
Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) is applicable as per the Government of India norms. Candidates must possess a valid certificate in the prescribed format.
The selection is a two-tier process:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): This was an objective-type test conducted on 06-08 August 2025. It consisted of three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language. It was a qualifying stage for the Skill Test.
- Skill Test (Dictation & Transcription): This is the final qualifying stage. Candidates who qualify the CBE are shortlisted for the Skill Test based on merit. The Skill Test involves:

The Skill Test is different for Grade C and Grade D posts in terms of dictation speed and transcription time.

Qualifying Standards: The transcription must achieve a minimum accuracy level as prescribed by the Commission. Errors in transcription beyond the permissible limit will lead to disqualification.

The SSC Stenographer Skill Test Admit Card 2026 will be released separately, a few days before the exam (28-29 January 2026). Cut-off Marks: The category-wise and post-wise cut-off marks for the CBE will be published along with the final result. The cut-off depends on vacancy, difficulty, and candidate performance.
